![]() Just below the JC 2 cast mark there seems to be a cast mark with a stylised SZ which would match the serial number. I saw the high definition shots of this JC number and thought you might be interested in it. If anyone recognises this design under another name, I’d be interested to hear of it. I notice on your database, Zorba, that you have JC 23 used on Domestic, Dressmaker & Nelco machines? I can’t speak for the others but I’ve come across a number of Lemair models that are the same or similar to those rebadged by Nelco. This machine looks like one which was advertised p88 of the Sydney Morning Herald, Jan 3, 1971, as a ‘fully automatic zig zag’ exclusive for Farmer’s department store in Sydney (although you’ll note it wasn’t branded as such). I got the model number from a photo of the cover of the manual which came with an identical machine. It only has a casting number - JC 23 – and on the serial number plate has SZ 00218954, which is the same format as other SZ series models. With the invaluable help of a member of the Lemair Sewing Machine Group, I’ve recently acquired another Lemair Helvetia sewing machine, this time it is a Lemair SZ-580 or SZ-581.
